Passport Photo Maker

Make a passport, visa or exam photo in the exact size (mm, cm, inch or pixels), set the background, keep it under 20, 50 or 100 KB and print copies on an A4 sheet.

Updated

This passport photo maker turns any front-facing photo into a correctly sized passport, visa or exam photo. Choose the size in millimetres, centimetres, inches or pixels, position your face, pick the background colour, keep the file under a size in KB and download a single photo or a ready-to-print sheet.

How to use the Passport Photo Maker

  1. 1 Drop your photo on the box or click to choose it.
  2. 2 Choose the photo size, then drag to move the photo and use the zoom slider until your face fits the frame.
  3. 3 Pick the background colour and, if a form needs it, a maximum file size such as 50 KB.
  4. 4 Download the single photo as a JPG, or the printable sheet as a JPG or PDF.

Worked examples

Passport photo for an online form

Input: 35 × 45 mm, 300 DPI, under 100 KB

The size is shown live, before you download.

Photos to print at a studio

Input: 35 × 45 mm, A4 sheet, "Fill sheet"

Print at 100% so the photos keep their real size.

Input: 4.5 × 2 cm, under 20 KB

Result: A small, sharp JPG of your signature

Sign on white paper, photograph it, then crop tightly.

How to make a passport photo online

Take a photo in daylight, facing the camera with a neutral expression, and drop it on the tool. Choose the size your country or form asks for (the list covers 35 × 45 mm, 2 × 2 inch, 33 × 48 mm and more, or enter your own in millimetres, centimetres, inches or pixels). Drag the photo and use the zoom slider until your head fills the frame, then switch on the face guide to check the proportions: the head should be centred, the eyes near the dashed line and the chin and top of the head inside the oval.

Photo sizes by country

  • 35 × 45 mm: India, the UK, the EU / Schengen area, Pakistan, Australia and many other countries.
  • 2 × 2 inch (51 × 51 mm): the USA.
  • 33 × 48 mm: China.
  • 50 × 70 mm: Canada.

Rules change, so check the exact size, head height and background colour on the official website of the office you apply to.

Make a photo under 20, 50 or 100 KB

Many online forms limit the file size. Choose "Maximum file size" and the tool finds the best JPG quality that fits, and only lowers the number of pixels if the quality alone is not enough. The final size in pixels and KB is shown before you download. For other images, the image compressor can compress to an exact size in KB, and the image resizer crops and resizes to exact pixels.

Background colour

The background colour fills the area around the photo when you zoom out and any transparent parts of a PNG. It does not remove an existing background: for the best result, take the photo in front of a plain white or light wall.

Choose the paper (A4, US Letter, 4 × 6 or 5 × 7 inch), set how many copies you want or click "Fill sheet", and download the sheet as a JPG or a PDF. The photos are laid out in rows with thin cutting lines. Print at 100% or "actual size", not "fit to page", so every photo keeps its real size.

DPI and pixel size

The pixel size of the photo is its size in inches times the DPI. A 35 × 45 mm photo at 300 DPI is 413 × 531 pixels, the usual size for online passport applications. Use 150 DPI for a smaller file or 600 DPI for professional printing.

Private by design

Your images are processed by your own browser and never uploaded to a server, so they stay on your device. There is no watermark, no sign-up and no limit on how many images you convert.

Frequently asked questions

What size is a passport photo?

It depends on the country: 35 × 45 mm in India, the UK and the EU, 2 × 2 inch (51 × 51 mm) in the USA, 33 × 48 mm in China and 50 × 70 mm in Canada. Always check the official requirements.

How do I make a passport photo under 50 KB?

Choose "Under 50 KB" as the maximum file size. The tool lowers the JPG quality, and the pixel size only if it has to, until the file fits, and shows the result before you download.

Can it change or remove the background?

It can fill the area around the photo with white, light blue or any colour, and fill transparent PNG areas, but it does not cut you out of an existing background. Take the photo in front of a plain light wall.

How do I print the photos?

Download the sheet as a PDF or JPG and print it at 100% (actual size). Cut along the thin lines.

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. The photo is cropped and compressed in your browser and never leaves your device.
