Why convert WebP to JPG?
WebP is the modern format most websites use, but plenty of software still does not open it: older photo editors, some office programs, printing services and upload forms. JPG works everywhere, which makes it the safest format for photos you want to share, print or upload.
How the WebP to JPG converter works
Your browser decodes each WebP image and encodes it as a JPG at the quality you set. At the default quality of 92 the result looks the same as the original; lower values make smaller files.
Transparency
JPG has no transparency. If a WebP image has transparent areas, they are filled with the background colour you choose, white by default. Use the WebP to PNG converter instead if you need to keep transparency.
File size
WebP is more efficient than JPG, so the JPG may be somewhat larger at the same visual quality. Lower the quality a little if file size matters more than the last bit of detail.
Private by design
Your images are processed by your own browser and never uploaded to a server, so they stay on your device. There is no watermark, no sign-up and no limit on how many images you convert.
Frequently asked questions
Is WebP better than JPG?
For websites, usually: it gives smaller files at the same quality. JPG is still the most compatible format, so convert when an app does not open WebP.
What happens to transparency?
It is filled with the background colour you choose, because JPG cannot store transparency.
Which quality should I use?
92 for no visible difference, 80 to 85 for smaller files that still look good.
Can I convert several files at once?
Yes. Drop several WebP files and use Download all.
