Convert tyre pressures, weather readings, blood-pressure units and engineering specifications between all common pressure units.

How to use the Pressure Converter

  1. 1 Type a value in either box — the conversion works in both directions.
  2. 2 Choose the units to convert pressure from and to, or click any row in the table.
  3. 3 Use the swap button to reverse the conversion, then copy the result.

Formula

1 bar = 100,000 Pa
1 atm = 101,325 Pa
1 psi = 6,894.757 Pa
1 mmHg ≈ 133.322 Pa

Worked examples

Car tyre

Input: 32 psi

Result: 2.206 bar

220.6 kPa

Weather

Input: 1013.25 mbar

Result: 1 atm

29.92 inHg

Gauge vs. absolute pressure

Tyre gauges show gauge pressure — the amount above atmospheric pressure. Absolute pressure adds about 1 atm (14.7 psi). This converter changes units only; it does not add or remove atmospheric pressure.

Where each unit is used

  • psi — tyres and hydraulics in the US
  • bar / kPa — tyres and engineering in most of the world
  • hPa / mbar — weather maps (identical values)
  • mmHg — blood pressure and vacuum

Frequently asked questions

How many psi is 1 bar?

About 14.5038 psi.

Is mmHg the same as torr?

Almost: 1 torr is exactly 1/760 atm, and 1 mmHg differs by less than one part in a million.

Are hPa and mbar the same?

Yes, 1 hectopascal equals 1 millibar.
